My commitment is to bring diverse experience and skills to the services I provide for clients and to my work as a published author. I have worked as a teacher, a newspaper reporter/photographer, magazine editor/photographer, program evaluation specialist, and public relations manager in philanthropy and nonprofit human service agencies. I established Coralan Communications as a means to bring multiple professional interests to bear in my work with my background providing a valuable ability to see some issues from “both sides.” That is, I understand media relations from the perspective of having worked as a member of the media and as the one seeking media coverage. I am familiar with the challenges of evaluation both from having asked evaluative questions and having had my program evaluated. And, I am acquainted with some of the complexities of program funding having worked first on the grant making side of the equation and later on the grant seeking side.

Over the years, I’ve had the honor of earning awards for newspaper reporting, annual report writing, campaign/corporate image development, photography, and video production. Among them are national Clarion Awards, a Communicator Laureate Award, and an international photography award. I was one of 15 people selected nationwide to attend a writers’ workshop on Long Island.
