Retail Outlets for Jan's
books:
When I began placing my books in late 2003, I chose to work with mom & pop bookstores, family-owned retailers, and
select gift shops. Authors typically get a very small portion of the cover price of a book, particularly when
working with distributors and wholesalers.
Over the years I have watched as several of the bookstores I chose to work with have fallen under the weight of competition
from the mega-stores and wholesalers. Even in seemingly prosperous tourist destinations, small bookstores are
struggling.
Still, store owners have been gracious and I thank them for their support. Please patronize family-owned stores
in your community and when you travel. It is good for you and good for all of us.
